    temple bar
  • Temple Bar is the barrier (real or imaginary) marking the westernmost extent of the City of London on the road to Westminster, where Fleet Street (extending westwards) becomes the Strand. Until 1878, this boundary was demarcated by a stone gateway designed by Christopher Wren.

  • Temple Bar (Barra an Teampaill) is an area on the south bank of the River Liffey in central Dublin, Ireland. Unlike the areas surrounding it, Temple Bar has preserved its medieval street pattern, with many narrow cobbled streets.

    hotels
  • An establishment providing accommodations, meals, and other services for travelers and tourists

  • Hotel is a dimensional real estate game created by Milton Bradley in 1986. It is similar to Square Mile and Prize Property. In Hotel the players are building resort hotels and attempting to drive their competitors into bankruptcy.

  • HOTELS (ISSN-1047-2975) is a trade publication serving the information needs of the worldwide hospitality industry.

  • A code word representing the letter H, used in radio communication

  • (hotel) a building where travelers can pay for lodging and meals and other services

On a (very) late night walk through Dublin, Ireland, I saw this street artist (still) perform for an audience of three people. I was walking through the Temple Bar district; in Irish called Barra an Teampaill. It is promoted as "Dublin's cultural quarter" and has a lively nightlife that is popular with tourists. There's almost 24/7 live music. To underline the historic origin of this area - it probably got its name from the Temple family, who lived in the area in the 17th century – the medieval street pattern, with many narrow cobbled streets, is preserved.

The street musician is playing on a Chapman Stick; an electric musical instrument devised by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. It’s roughly a wide version of the fretboard of an electric guitar, with 8 to 12 strings. It is considerably longer and wider than a guitar fretboard and unlike the guitar it’s usually played by tapping or fretting the strings, rather than plucking them.

I forgotten the name of this street musician as did my colleague with his CD in the hotel. The later is a bit pity as his music was very harmonious and flowing. It had the basics of a Dutch composer Franssens and the sound bite of the early works of Jean-Michel Jarre. Perhaps I will see him again performing somewhere in Europe or the USA. He is originally from Los Angeles.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Today, I am going to relive the greatest hits of my trip to Ireland. Slainte!
This is where we had our first official Guinness in Dublin. It's The Temple Bar and it was right around the corner from our hotel. Duane had a toasted cheese and ham sandwich for 4.50 euro. And 5 grapes. heehee.

Ohmigosh...i think next to VW advertising campaigns, Guinness ranks as #2 in my favorites of all time ads.
